Indicators

Lipscomb University is a private coeducational institution with undergraduate education in the liberal arts and sciences, combined with a number of pre-professional fields, master's degree programs, and doctoral programs in Pharmacy and in Education. Its primary mission is to integrate Christian faith and practice with academic excellence. This mission is carried out not only in the classroom, but also by involvement in numerous services to the church and the larger community.Clinical Practice III is the capstone experience required for licensure to teach in Tennessee. Observation, directed teaching, and varied school experiences for a minimum of 15 weeks in assigned schools are completed under the supervision of a Clinical Educator and a University Supervisor. Each student has two placements. We are emphatic that the placements represent different demographics. One of these placements must be in the state of Tennessee to fulfill licensure requirements after a successful completion of the semester. Most students will complete both placements in Tennessee; some will complete an international student teaching placement in conjunction with CCTECC. Courtesy placements are only made in exigent circumstances. Our mission in teacher preparation makes sure our candidates are well-equipped to manage instruction in any school system of choice. Our candidates choose urban, suburban, rural, private and parochial school systems for employment. We feel confident that our candidates are trained well to meet the needs of students from diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
