Contact information

Established as one of Tennessee's original Normal Schools in 1911, MTSU was founded for the purpose of preparing future teachers and is presently one of the highest producers of teachers in Tennessee. MTSU's rich history in teacher preparation continues through exceptional undergraduate and graduate programs, centers focused on serving local schools, teachers, and the community at large, and early learning programs providing direct services to children and families. Primary and state-recognized partnerships with approximately 20 school districts inform and support program design, clinical experiences, and candidate development leading to more inclusive and equitable classrooms and schools. The MTSU teacher preparation program is one of transformation, which includes engaging in continuous learning, innovative teaching, development of professional attributes, and meaningful outreach. MTSU is committed to the recruitment and selection of diverse teacher candidates to improve and expand learning opportunities for students of color and diverse backgrounds. In order to provide a global perspective to teaching, MTSU teacher candidates have unique opportunities to study abroad or spend a portion of their student teaching semester overseas through the Consortium of Overseas Student Teaching program.
