Trevecca, located in the heart of the state's capital, has a long history of responding to the needs of the community. The University recognizes the community's critical need for qualified and competent teachers to which the School of Education has always responded. Through coursework, field and clinical experiences, collaboration with Primary and State Partners, and a focused Diversity and Retention Plan, candidates are provided exposure to competent instructional practices and a wealth of experiences. This type of training prepares candidates to position the students they serve as knowledgeable and valuable contributors of information. Trevecca responded to the need of school districts by offering free online professional development to teachers during the pandemic. The professional development enabled teachers to design classes for remote instruction, use technology to enhance learning outcomes, and utilize a variety of learning management systems. This endeavor paved the way for a new online Master's degree, Technology in Education. Lastly, three new programs were recently launched in the School of Education, which equip candidates to be certified in ESL. Trevecca looks forward to building on challenges presented, while keeping the focus on excellence.
